Department of Anaesthesia

The Department of Anaesthesia at Vijay Marie Hospital has served as a vital backbone of the institution for decades, owing to the critical support it provides to both surgical and non-surgical departments. It plays a central role in delivering comprehensive pre-operative and intensive care services to a large number of patients. All surgical specialties are closely integrated with this department. The hospital also houses a 12-bedded Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a 4-bedded Post-Operative unit, ensuring high-quality critical care and recovery support.

CSSD - The central sterile services department

The Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) is responsible for sterilizing and preparing medical devices, equipment, and consumables for safe reuse by healthcare professionals in the operation theatre and other hospital areas. The CSSD is equipped with autoclave machines and ETO (Ethylene Oxide) sterilizer. For urgent needs, emergency sterilization is carried out round the clock by the technical staff stationed in the Emergency Operation Theatre.

Pre Anaesthetic Clinic ( PAC)

  • There is one Pre Anaesthetic Clinic (PAC) near ICU
  • O.T. which works 24 x 7
  • The indoor and outdoor patients who are scheduled for surgical are screened here for their fitness and suitability to undergo surgical procedure. Immobile patients are provided bedside PAC whenever call is received.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

The Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) is responsible for sterilizing and preparing medical devices, equipment, and consumables for safe reuse by healthcare professionals in the operation theatre and other hospital areas.
